You’ve probably seen this skirt all over Instagram this year. That splotchy leopard print Naomi midi skirt in the color “Wild Things” from Réalisation Par has been all over my feed. The perfect blend of two hot trends right now: leopard print and satin bias cut slip skirts, meets a version of the leopard print none of us has seen before (it was designed in-house).
There have been many attempts to dupe the leopard skirt. The write-up on the Réalisation Par website might be a nod to that: “The Naomi skirt in Wild Things is the Réal deal. We know you saw it here first…”
I’ve seen a few dupes of this skirt, most of them on Amazon and to the tune of $20-$30. Many better quality dupes have featured boring and basic leopard print, not the abstract iteration. So finding an almost exact replica of the satin skirt from Bloomingdale’s house fast fashion brand was exciting: this one’s quality is decent but for a whopping $110 less.
It’s no surprise that Bloomingdale’s has kept this skirt on replenishment, long outlasting the week-long shelf life most fast-fashion items are subjected to. This skirt first appeared in early spring and it is still being restocked here in June. The fact that the skirt is exclusive to Bloomingdale’s was a good call from their buying team who more than likely negotiated this with a wholesaler.
Update 6/10/19: the best competitor to the Bloomingdale’s dupe is back in stock.
My outfit: I’m wearing a Reformation Top that’s no longer available. Similar here.
